Botox®

Botox® is the most commonly performed medical cosmetic procedure. Since first being described in a Canadian Study in 1992 *it has become a “cosmetic global phenomenon”.

Botox® is a protein derived from the bacterium Clostridium Botulinum and has been used for treatments in humans since 1980.  Botox® relaxes muscles and in tiny doses can be used to inject the facial muscles to achieve a relaxed, rejuvenated look by smoothing dynamic lines, wrinkles and folds.

This treatment is not only for cosmetic use but also can help relieve medical indications such as headache, migraine, hemi-facial spasm and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating.)

Our GP and Registered Nurses strive for a natural, youthful look for all male and female patients. 

The treatment is to inject small amounts of Botox® into the facial muscles which gradually smooth out lines (e.g. the frown line, squint lines & crow’s feet around the eyes) over a two week period.

Other areas of the face can be treated but all the injections are tiny and produce only a slight, brief, stingy sensation. The whole process may last just a few seconds or minutes depending on the area of the face to be covered. Many of our “needle-phobic” patients have been surprised by how quickly and easily the treatment is performed.

Each Botox® treatment can last between 3 and 6 months, but each case may differ. Appmed House can send you a txt or email reminder to ensure you don’t miss your top-ups.

After each new treatment a follow up assessment is booked to assess the effect of the treatment and to provide a top-up if required.  The benefit of Botox® can become more apparent if used on a long term basis.
