RF Microneedling (VIVACE)

VIVACE** is the technique of using a radiofrequency (electrical) energy in the deep layers of the skin to help stimulate and tighten the skin.

It is ideal for thin skin that has lost its tone with criss-cross wrinkling. At Appmed House we have also had exciting success treating acne with a combination of Vivace and prescription creams.

What is involved in the treatment?

The treatment itself consists of placing a hand piece against the surface of the skin and activating radio frequency energy. The hand piece consists of a multiple needle head that is accurately applied within a specified depth.

As each fine needle punctures the skin, it creates a channel that triggers the body to produce new collagen, elastin and hyaluronic acid in the papillary dermis. In addition, new capillaries are formed. This in effect creates a solid foundation of new dermal volume.

6 to 12 treatments are recommended spaced every 1 to 4 weeks with a maintenance regime to follow. The treatment takes 30 minutes to perform and for most it is quite bare-able however topical local anaesthesia can be used if the patient does find it too sore.
What are the benefits?
  • Reduce pore size
  • Reduce oil levels in the skin (seborrhoea)
  • Help to reduce wrinkles and fine lines
  • Enhance delivery and effectiveness of medical grade skincare creams
  • Minimise acne outbreaks.
  • Great results with acne and acne scars in combination with topical prescriptions.
What are the risks?

The treatment is relatively new at Appmed House (Introduced: January 2014)  but is proving extremely safe and efficacious. Prolonged redness (> 1 week) can be a problem for a tiny number of patients that settles rapidly with prescription medication.
